Asbestos Disease Benefit Entitlements
There are numerous state benefits available to you if your asbestos-related disease was caused whilst in employment. As part of our free service to asbestos disease sufferers we can provide direct advice and assistance with benefit applications. Decisions on benefit entitlement are then made directly by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).
Benefits which you may be entitled to include:
- Pneumoconiosis (Worker’s Compensation) Act 1979 (Government lump-sum)
- 2008 Diffuse Mesothelioma Scheme (Government lump sum)
- Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit/IIDB (weekly allowance)
- Disability Living Allowance (DLI) or Attendance Allowance (weekly allowance)
- Employment and Support Allowance (weekly allowance)
- Housing and Council Tax Benefits
Please note that some benefits are means tested, and certain benefit entitlements could affect existing benefit payments.
It is our recommendation therefore that you speak to one of our case managers before making an application for asbestos-related disease benefits. National Asbestos Helpline staff will be happy to guide you through the process however only the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) will be able to assess your claim in full.
