The National Asbestos Helpline works alongside various commercial partners, non-profit organisations, charities and government agencies.
Charity of the year 2011
The National Asbestos Helpline are delighted to have nominated The Christie as their charity of the year for 2011.
The Christie is one of the largest specialist cancer centres in Europe and was recently rated the best hospital in the UK for treatment and care in the national patient survey.
More than 100 cases of mesothelioma, an asbestos-related cancer, are treated annually in Manchester.
Last year we chose the British Lung Foundation as our charity of the year and together we joined forces on a national roadshow aimed at increasing awareness of the dangers of asbestos exposure and giving access to the vital support services provided by the National Asbestos Helpline.
The ‘asbestos awareness’ roadshow travelled around the country and stopped off in key towns and cities which have high mortality rates from asbestos-related diseases.
In the coming year we hope to work with The Christie on numerous initiatives with the goal of being able to help as many people as possible who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma and asbestos-related lung cancer.
Building Safety Group
The Building Safety Group Limited (BSG) is the UK's largest independent health and safety advisory group which operates for the promotion and advancement of health, safety and welfare within the construction industry, servicing over 20,000 operatives and over 3,000 workplaces around England & Wales. BSG operate in two ways – Membership Services, and Safety Training.
We are delighted to support the work which BSG carry out in ensuring workers are operating safely in low risk environments.
BSG conduct regular training courses on asbestos-awareness and asbestos removal for businesses.
