Asbestos advice clinics return to Ellesmere Port to help victims of the deadly dust and fibres

The National Asbestos Helpline is returning to Ellesmere Port to hold two advice clinics for anyone affected by past exposure to asbestos dust and fibres.

The clinics will be held on Friday May 29 and July 3, from 10am to 1pm, at the Ellesmere Port & District Labour Social Club in Flatt Lane.

The doors are open to anyone concerned that they, or a loved-one, may have developed a lung disease due to a historical exposure to asbestos dust and fibres. Visitors will be able to discuss how to access practical, emotional, legal and financial support for asbestos-related illnesses.

Asbestos was widely used within Ellesmere Port’s heavy industrial oil, chemical and manufacturing units and the Mersey River’s shipyards from the 1940s through to the 1980s. It can take between 10 and 50 years for a person to develop an asbestos disease after exposure.
