All at the National Asbestos Helpline are saddened to learn that Debbie Brewer passed away on Sunday 9th June, 2013 at the age of 53 years.  Debbie was a brave an inspirational figurehead to many following her diagnosis and battle with mesothelioma which was diagnosed in November, 2006.  Her exposure to asbestos was brought about through her father’s work within the MOD in Plymouth between 1963 – 1966 where his job involved removing asbestos lagging from pipework. The asbestos dust was brought home on his clothing.

Debbie fought tirelessly to raise awareness of Mesothelioma and other asbestos related illnesses. She supported many organisations including those who were seeking to outlaw the production and distribution of asbestos.  Her character and energy will be sorely missed but her work will continue.

The National Asbestos Helpline is playing its part to influence a global ban on asbestos and we continue to invite people to sign our petition found on https://www.lobbyingforlife.co.uk
