A flock of Chester culture vultures from the National Asbestos Helpline and Alderstone Solicitors have signed up for Maggie’s Merseyside’s Culture Crawl in Liverpool on Friday, September 23.

The team has pledged to raise at least £1,120 for the cancer charity, which is based in the grounds of Wirral’s Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Maggie’s Culture Crawl, starting at 6.30pm, is a 10km night walk and cultural adventure through the nooks-and-crannies of rarely seen Liverpool locations. Everyone who takes part will get exclusive access to some of the city’s unique buildings, encounter talented performers and enjoy food and drink along the way.

Jan Garvey, from the National Asbestos Helpline, says: “I’ve taken part in a Maggie’s Culture Crawl before in London. It was a wonderful experience and a magical way to raise money for such a great cause. When we found out that Maggie’s Merseyside was organising one closer to home, well, it was hard to resist.

“Maggie’s Merseyside is an empowering place with an extraordinary approach to cancer care that’s outside the more clinical medical environments. If you haven’t been to a Maggie’s Centre then you should find out more and if you haven’t been on a Maggie’s Culture Crawl, now is the time to do it.”

Holly Smith, Centre Fundraising Manager for Maggie’s Merseyside, said: “We’re so glad the National Asbestos Helpline and Alderstone Solicitors are continuing a fantastic year of fundraising by signing up to our Culture Crawl. It’s going to be a really special night seeing Liverpool as you’ve never seen it before – prepare to be entertained, surprised and to have lots of fun. It’s the perfect team night out so why not get your office on board for a team builder with a twist? Get in touch with Holly on 07557 284 816 or holly.smith@maggiescentres.org for more details and a group registration discount. We hope everyone has a great time raising valuable funds for Maggie’s Merseyside!”

Maggie’s Centres provide free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer, their families and friends. Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres are extraordinary places with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need.

Craig Howell, an asbestos disease specialist and partner at Alderstone Solicitors, says: “Maggie’s Centres are extraordinary places where many of our clients get help. We’re really looking forward to a fantastic night with Maggie’s Merseyside and seeing parts of Liverpool seldom open to the public. It’s a great way to support Maggie’s Merseyside and those affected by cancer.”

The National Asbestos Helpline is a service provided by Alderstone Solicitors and was set up to help those affected by asbestos to access support, benefits and compensation. For details go to www.nationalasbestos.co.uk or call 0808 250 6786.
